If the Instrument Display has failed or malfunctioned,
you may not recognize function
restrictions applying to safety relevant systems.
The operating safety of your vehicle may be
impaired.
- Drive on carefully.
- Have the vehicle checked immediately
at a qualified specialist workshop.

impaired, park the vehicle safely as soon as possible.

The segments on speedometer 1 indicate the
system status for the following:
- Cruise control
- Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC
NOTE Engine damage due to excessively
high engine speeds |
The engine will be damaged if you drive with
the engine in the overrevving range.
- Do not drive with the engine in the overrevving
range.

The fuel supply is interrupted to protect the
engine when the red mark on tachometer 3
(overrevving range) is reached.
During normal operating conditions, coolant
temperature display 4 may rise to the red
mark.
WARNING Danger of burns when opening
the hood |
If you open the hood when the engine has
overheated or during a fire in the engine
compartment, you could come into contact
with hot gases or other escaping operating
fluids.
- Before opening the hood, allow the
engine to cool down.
- In the event of a fire in the engine compartment,
keep the hood closed and
call the fire service.
