Function of the rear view camera If you have activated the function in the multimedia system, the image from rear view camera 1 is shown in the multimedia system display when reverse gear is selected. Dynamic guide lines show the path the vehicle will take with the steering wheel in its current position. This helps you to orient yourself and to avoid obstacles when backing up. The rear view camera is only an aid. It is not a substitute for your attention to the surroundings. The responsibility for safe maneuvering and parking remains with you. Make sure that there are no persons, animals or objects etc., in the maneuvering area while maneuvering and parking. You can select from the following views:

If the entire system fails, the inner segments of the warning display are shown in red. The indicator lamp on the PARKTRONIC button lights up and the symbol appears in the multifunction display. If the system fails at the rear, the rear segments are shown in red when backing up and are hidden when driving forwards. When Active Parking Assist is active, the lanes are displayed in green. If Parking Assist PARKTRONIC is deactivated, the warning display fades out. Wide-angle view System limitations The rear view camera will not function or will only partially function in the following situations:
The field of vision and other functions of the rear view camera may be restricted due to additional accessories on the rear of the vehicle (e.g. license plate bracket or bicycle rack). The display contrast may be impaired due to incident sunlight or other light sources. In this case, pay particular attention. Have the display repaired or replaced if, for example, pixel errors considerably restrict its use. |
